Burlington City Council apologizes to veterans

BURLINGTON — The Burlington City Council is telling veterans its sorry for comments made last week during a Veterans Day ceremony by a stand-in for Mayor Bob Kiss.

In an 11-3 vote Monday, the council approved a resolution sponsored by two Republican council members.

The Burlington Free Press says the council’s three Progressive Party members voted against the resolution.

During the Veterans Day ceremony, peace activist Jon Hausrath advocated conscientious objection and praised war resisters.

Burlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Bob Colby says the comments weren’t appropriate to the occasion.

About 15 veterans attended the council meeting.

It's no wonder that circulation continues to decline. This paper's reporting is far from thorough on a range of topics. Even elementary school students would have included names of the Progressive Party candidates voting nay. It's almost impossible to pass this off as a mere oversight or size or space restriction.

The public needs to know the porgressive's names' so they can be booted out the door next election cycle!

naturally this rag wont print their names..but you can bet had it been a vote that republicans had voted against those names would be printed more than once.
