Steep price for a glove

Published: November 30, 2009

A friend who moved to Europe several years ago has often told me that he feels that he is living among adults.

From articles in the Rutland Herald, I learn that a church in Vermont for valid reasons is to auction a stained-glass window produced by the Tiffany Studios. The estimated price is $40,000 to $60,000. And Michael Jackson's rhinestone-studded glove is to be auctioned in New York. The estimated price is $40,000 to $60,000.

Douglass, that is the beauty of a free America, if you want it, you can probably get it, especially if you have the cash. Capitolism at its finest.

Most all gloves in europe cost that much! Seriously, if you have not been there for a while, it is worse. Even products made there are more expensive than when bought here. The fact the dollar is so low and the europeans have VAT and any other tax is a big cost. And they don't even pay for their defense. They leave that to us.

Remind your friend that some bloke in London paid 541,000 GBP for the drum on the cover of Sgt. Pepper's.

Sorry but your friend is a pompous assuming ass. How dare he look down at us. Complete and utter arrogance. That glove is part of history, one of the most recognized performers of our time wore that, its not just some glove you pick up at walmart. As well as the stained glass window is a piece of art and history and should be preserved as such. Tell your friend to jump off the tall bridge into the shallow river.
