BURLINGTON — Two Vermont electric utilities are offering a free daylong trip to a New Hampshire wind power installation for people from Lowell and surrounding towns.
The goal of the tour offered by Green Mountain Power and the Vermont Electric Cooperative is to give residents the opportunity to see an operating wind farm.
The two utilities would like to construct between 16 and 24 turbines on a Lowell ridge line.
But they've pledged not to proceed if Lowell residents object.
The Burlington Free Press says people will be taken to view 12 turbines atop Lempster Mountain in southwestern New Hampshire.
GMP's Robert Dostis says the day-trippers will have a chance to view the towers and listen to the sound they make.
