H1N1 clinics at North Clarendon's Mill River Union High School and Rutland Middle School were rescheduled Wednesday, a result of severe weather and closed schools, according to the Vermont Department of Health.
Mill River's public clinic for high-risk candidates will be held today from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rutland's Holiday Inn on Route 7.
The school clinic at Rutland Middle School will now be held Dec. 18.
According to the department, 137 Vermonters have been hospitalized with the H1N1 flu strain from Sept. 1 through Dec. 5, including 42 people in intensive care.
The flu remains widespread in Vermont and public vaccine clinics are generally open to the following eligible people of all ages — pregnant women, anyone who lives with or provides care for infants younger than 6 months, health care workers and emergency service personnel, anyone age 6 months through 24 years, and anyone age 25 through 64 who has a medical condition that puts them at higher risk for flu complications.
School clinics are set up exclusively for students, who must have parental permission before being vaccinated, and eligible staff, according to the department.
