A Proctor teenager charged with doing almost $2,000 of damage to a car in the Mill River Union High School parking lot answered to a pair of charges in Rutland District Court Monday.
Joshua S. Miles, 18, pleaded innocent to a felony charge of unlawful mischief and a misdemeanor charge of petty larceny.
Police say after leaving a homecoming dance at the school on Oct. 2, Miles slashed all four tires on a Toyota Camry parked outside the school. Police say Miles told them he also took a backpack of school books from the car. He told police he threw the backpack in a river in Proctor. An estimate of the damage to the car and the loss of the backpack and its contents amounted to about $2,200.
