Jackets win 3rd straight

In Windsor, the Yellow Jackets held the Stevens Cardinals to just seven baskets but committed a bushel of fouls. Nonetheless, Windsor was still able to put one in the victory column, winning its third straight game, 58-42 on Monday night.

Stevens had five two-pointers and a pair of 3s but made 22 free throws in 39 attempts.

"We did some nice things but we can play better," Windsor coach Bruce Mackay. "We committed a lot fouls. We can do better on defense. We didn't move our feet."

Carlin Hood led the way for the Jacks with 17 points while Morghan Farnsworth added 10 and Kaitlyn Callahan nine.

Rachael Dole had 19 points for the Cardinals, including a 15-for-18 performance from the foul line. Jen Eaton added eight points.

The 3-3 Yellow Jackets face a stern test on Wednesday when they travel to Green Mountain.

Leland & Gray 40, Black River 31

In Ludlow, the Rebels outscored the Presidents 17-9 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game. Black River led 16-14 at the half and Leland & Gray by a point, 23-22, after three.

Ashley Goddard led the Rebels with 14 while Ally Marcucci added 10. Goddard, a freshman, also had 11 rebounds and is nearly averaging a double-double for the young season.

Bethany Robinson had five steals for the 2-3 Rebels, who will host Twin Valley on Wednesday.

Hannah Josselyn scored 10 for the 0-6 Presidents and Katie O'Neill tossed in eight.

Middlebury 62, S. Burlington 57

In Middlebury, the Tigers got balanced scoring to notch their third win against two losses. Nicole Brown led the way with 15 points. Katie Ritter, Kayla Whittemore and Jordan Smith had 12 each. Natalie Wimett led the 2-4 Rebels with 13.

Poultney 56, MSJ 37

In Poultney, a 26-5 first period by the Blue Devils propelled them past the Mounties. Ali Jones had 12 of her 27 points in the period, including three 3-pointers. Nicole Boguski added nine for the 2-3 Blue Devils, who will play next Monday at the Whitehall (N.Y.) Tournament.

Brianna Patten had nine points and Katelyn Gawett seven for MSJ.

"We played a good game right from the start," Poultney coach David Hughes said. "But MSJ played hard the whole way."

Oxbow 58, Springfield 25

In Springfield, the Cosmos could get nothing going offensively and fell to Oxbow. Amanda Farnsworth led Springfield with seven points.

It gets no easier for Brody Ladue's Cosmos as they travel to Manchester on Wednesday to take on Burr and Burton.

Otter Valley 39, Woodstock 28

In Brandon, Amanda Sanderson and Kristy Pinkham had 10 points apiece for the Otters, who improved to 3-3.

"They're pretty physical," said Woodstock coach Rob Chandler after his team fell to 2-4.

The Otters had a 21-11 halftime lead, pulling away after Woodstock's Blake Wardwell came out for the night with an ankle injury.

Chelsea Harris had 17 points and Tiana Barcomb six for the Wasps, who will host Hartford on Wednesday. OV will host Mill River the same night.

Rivendell 47, Rochester 30

In Orford, N.H., Lacey Steever had 13 points for the 2-2 Raptors, while Daley Crowley had 11 for the Rockets.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cambridge 60, Arlington 41

In Cambridge, N.Y., Luca D'Auito's double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds led the Indians to the win. The 0-5 Eagles did put three players in double figures: Logan Foster with 12, Kolby Crofut with 11 and Ryan Boyd with 10.



BOYS HOCKEY

Northfield 5, Woodstock 1

In Northfield, the Marauders continued their outstanding season, stretching their record to 6-1. Eric White scored Woodstock's goal with an assist from Brian Martin.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Lebanon 7, Woodstock 1

In Woodstock, Kyra Sebert had a hat trick for Lebanon, while Anna Sand scored Woodstock's goal in the third period with assists from Brooke Griswold and Emily Donaldson .

Emily Koetsier had 25 saves for the 1-5 Wasps.

Spaulding 6, BBA 1

In Barre, Spaulding reeled off its sixth consecutive victory with a romp over Metro Division newcomer Burr and Burton Academy at the BOR.

The 6-0 Crimson Tide scored three goals in the first period and never looked back.

Hayley Arnold paced the Tide with two goals.

Burr and Burton captain Jennifer Coppin broke the shutout against Tide goalie Gabbie Willey, who replaced starter Kaitlyn LaGue (two saves).

Burr and Burton (1-5) hosts Brattleboro Wednesday.

Rutland 3, Middlebury 1

In Middlebury, Sarah Hamilton had two goals and an assist to power the Raiders past the Tigers. Kate Kurchena added a goal and an assist for 4-2 Rutland.

Saige Twombly scored for Middlebury.

RHS netminder Deanna Rodolfy made 25 saves.

Rutland plays Mount St. Joseph Academy on Wednesday in Spartan Arena.
