BURLINGTON - A former Burlington middle school teacher's aide is facing a minimum of five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to charges he sexually assaulted a student over a six-year period during the 1990s.
Forty-four-year-old Douglas S. Cavett of Milton entered the guilty plea Monday to one count of aggravated sexual assault.
Prosecutors dropped a second charge.
The Burlington Free press says attorneys will recommend that Cavett be sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.
Court papers say Cavett regularly assaulted the boy between 1991 and 1997 after Cavett was assigned to work with him in a program for children with emotional and behavioral problems at the Lyman C. Hunt Middle School.
