SUNDERLAND – Police said four area teenagers admitted to vandalizing mailboxes on North Road on Wednesday.

Grady Murtagh, 16, of Sunderland, Arthur Coyle, 16, of Manchester, and two 15-year-olds from Manchester, are expected to be cited for the vandalism, according to a press release from the Vermont State Police at the Shaftsbury barracks.

Police were contacted about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday by a person who said he had seen three people, who appeared to be the around the age of high school students, in a silver or gray vehicle damaging mailboxes on North Road in Sunderland.

According to police, more information was reported Thursday that allowed police to locate the vehicle and then the four teenagers.

Because of the age of the teenagers involved, Murtagh and Coyle are expected to be cited to appear in Bennington District Court while the 15-year-olds are expected to be charged as juveniles.
