Vt. Guard doing Afghan mission
March 24,2010
COLCHESTER — Soldiers from a Vermont National Guard company are working in the field in Afghanistan.
Less than a week after arriving, soldiers from the distribution company of the Morrisville-based Echo Company are helping move supplies across eastern Afghanistan.
They've been working with the soldiers from the Georgia National Guard they are replacing.
The platoon's soldiers had thought they would just be training their counterparts in the Afghan National Army, but they learned during training they would be conducting missions alongside the Afghans.
Sgt. 1st Class Thomas Snipp of Morrisville says they're jumping right in and they plan to hand the missions off to the Afghans once they're ready.
