Towns along Route 22A are collecting ideas for the road's future.

The Rutland Regional Planning Commission is working with Fair Haven, Benson, West Haven and Orwell on a management plan for Route 22A, and will hold meetings with the Select Board in each town to gather feedback.

"The consultant is going to talk to them about the management plan and their concerns, goals," RRPC planner Susan Schreibman said, adding that they want public feedback as well.

Schreibman said the commission's representative meets with the West Haven Select Board tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the community center and with the Benson board Wednesday at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Orwell's board takes the issue up 7:30 p.m. June 14. Schreibman said she did not think a forum had been scheduled for Fair Haven yet.

Most of route 22a between West Haven and Addison was built for 1940s traffic and is not suitable for today. Needs to be torn up, straightened, regraded and a concrete surface laid like similar highly traveled truck routes in upper midwest cold belts.
