BURLINGTON, — An annual snow sculpting competition in Vermont is missing the snow.
Competitors instead are carving their creations out of ice at the Burlington Winter Festival at Waterfront Park.
Burlington has had a mild winter with temperatures 3 to 6 degrees above normal and a below-average amount of snowfall.
Teams in the snow sculpting competition have had to change their strategy and designs. Participants said it’s more challenging to carve from ice than snow, but they’re up for it.
