Search of Bennington business leads to arrestStaff Report | February 12,2012
BENNINGTON — State police say a local man has been arrested after an investigation into a series of burglaries in Bennington County.
Leroy Lacross, 45, of Bennington, was arrested Friday in connection with the sale and possession of stolen property, police said.
According to a news release, authorities had been investigating many burglaries throughout the county since November and learned that stolen property may have been sold at Foster’s Cannery in Bennington.
On Thursday, search warrants were executed at the cannery and an unidentified location, which led to the discovery of a “multitude of stolen property.” Police believe some of the items were stolen during burglaries in Bennington County.
Troopers executed search warrants in Arlington and Bennington on Friday, seizing numerous items. Lacross is being held at the Rutland jail after failing to meet a cash bail of $15,000. He is expected to appear in Bennington criminal court Monday.
