March 17,2012
PERKINSVILLE — The Army Corps of Engineers is accepting public comments regarding an Agency of Transportation stabilization and reconstruction project.
The Agency of Transportation is seeking a permit from the ACE, New England District, to stabilize 1,035 linear feet on the Black River’s east bank in Perkinsville. The purpose, according to the ACE, is to reconstruct a section of Route 106 damaged by Tropical Storm Irene and to protect the roadway embankment from further erosion.
The AOT’s application for a federal permit was filed with the ACE in compliance with the Clean Water Act, which regulates the discharge or fill of material in U.S. waters and wetlands.
Public comments on the AOT’s permit request should be submitted to ACE no later than March 22. They can be sent to ACE, New England District, Vermont Project Office (Attn.: Marty Abair), 8 Carmichael St., Suite 205, White River Junction, 05452 or by email at martha.a.abair@usace.army.mil.
