WALLINGFORD — William M. Brown, 82, of Wallingford, died Tuesday afternoon, June 12, 2012, at his residence, following a brief illness.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1929, in Danby, Vt., the son of Merritt and Velma (Corey) Brown.
Mr. Brown married Jessie Barker on June 1, 1951.
He was a farmer until 1978 when he was employed by the Town of Wallingford, working on the road crew until he retired in 1994. After a brief retirement, he was employed by J.K. Adams in Dorset until May 11, 2012.
Mr. Brown had a wonderful belly laugh and enjoyed gardening, lawn work, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Brown of Wallingford; a daughter, Marybeth Cooley and her husband Norbert of Elkton, Md.; three sons, James Brown and his wife Lorraine of Arlington, Gary Brown and his wife Candace of Danby and Michael Brown of Morrisville; a sister, Tulita “Tootie” Cleveland of Pawlet; three brothers, Nelson “Nick” Brown of Salem, N.Y., Douglas Brown and Homer Brown, both of Pawlet; eight grandchildren, Dannon Cooley, Jason Cooley, Mark Brown, Laurie Brown, Mandi Baierlein, Jennifer Brown, Danielle Mandy and Kerry Schock; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Corey Brown, Mark Brown and Cecil Brown.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Wallingford Aldous Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Danby-Scottsville Cemetery.
