Health center opens in Burlington

BURLINGTON — The $11 million Community Health Center of Burlington is officially open.
The center is part of a national effort to expand Federally Qualified Community Health Centers for primary health care.
Executive Director Jack Donnelly said about 70 percent of its patients have incomes at 200 percent or less of the federal poverty level. He said 10 percent are refugees who settled in Burlington from other countries. About 20 percent of patients have no insurance either medical or dental.”
Vermont has eight community health centers. There are about 200 nationwide.
