A convicted sex offender who pleaded guilty to a federal charge of arranging to meet with a 13-year-old boy was sentenced to 15 years in jail today.

U.S. District Court Judge Christina Reiss said she was handing down a stiff sentence to Ryan Wynne Grace who arranged a sexual encounter with the New York teenager eight years after he was convicted of federal child pornography charges in 2003.

The 31-year-old Rutland man was sentenced to 30 months in jail on the pornography charge.

In the new offense, Grace pleaded guilty to traveling to New York in July 2011 for a sexual rendevous with the 13-year-old who he met on Facebook. Prosecutors said he was arranging a second trip to meet the teen when he was arrested.

"It's hard to overstate the seriousness of the offense," Reiss said.
