Lawmakers to be updated on Irene recovery
July 20,2012
MONTPELIER — Vermont lawmakers are getting progress reports on the state’s efforts to revamp its mental health system and rebuild the state office complex in Waterbury.
The meeting of the House and Senate Institutions committees comes nearly 11 months after Tropical Storm Irene flooded the state complex in Waterbury, forcing the closing of several state agencies’ offices and the Vermont State Hospital.
State officials are expected to discuss a settlement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency that should help determine how much federal assistance Vermont will get as it tries to rebuild or replace the Waterbury facilities.
