City fire victim
remains critical
A 79-year-old Rutland woman pulled from a smoke-filled home Tuesday night remained in critical condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care on Thursday.
Firefighters were called at about 8 p.m. Tuesday to Eleanor Drinwater’s home where an accidental fire that started on a stovetop was quickly doused.
Drinwater was unconscious when city firefighters found her collapsed near the front door of her home at 2 Mahoney Ave.
Fire officials said she regained consciousness before she was taken by ambulance to Rutland Regional Medical Center.
However, she remained in the intensive care unit at Fletcher Allen on Thursday, according to the hospital.
