ARLINGTON — A local man was taken into custody Tuesday after police said they found that he possessed a misdemeanor amount of marijuana in violation of his probation conditions.

In a press release, police said they were called to the home of Richard Jarvis, 22, of Arlington, for an unrelated matter on Tuesday morning but once there learned that Jarvis was in possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.

Jarvis was taken into custody and turned over to the Vermont Department of Corrections probation and parole officers. He was cited to appear in Bennington criminal court on Aug. 27.
