Tailgating causes four-car pileup in Waterbury
A four-vehicle crash shut down Route 100 in Waterbury for about 45 minutes on Friday around 5 p.m., after a Hyde Park man hit the back back of a Bourne Energy truck, sending it into another car, which hit a fourth vehicle, police said.
State Polcie said that Elijah Coakley, 19, driving a Dodge 2500 truck, was following David Lafleche, 51, of Graniteville too closely, and rear-ended Lafleche, who was driving a Bourne Energy freightliner. The impact sent Lafleche into a Subaru driven by Theresa Laskey, 58, of Morrisville, and her car hit a Toyota truck driven by Marc Dimario, 38, of Waitsfield. Dimario’s truck was totalled, and Lafleche was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash please call Trooper Brown at the Vermont State Police Middlesex Barracks at 802-229-9191.
