TOWNSHEND — A Townshend couple was arrested on Tuesday for alleged child abuse and neglect, police said.

Daniel Wainwright, 31, and Teri Fowler, 27 have been charged with child cruelty after the Vermont Department of Children and Families conducted an investigation into the allegations. The alleged abuse took place between April 2010 to Feb. 2011 and June 2011 to March, 2012, according to State Trooper James Matthews. The victims are now in the State’s custody.

Fowler was released but Wainwright is being held at Springfield Prison on unrelated charges. Both are scheduled to appear at criminal court in Brattleboro Sept. 18.
