FAIRLEE — A local man is facing charges of driving a stolen car while under the influence and possessing cocaine after a chase that involved four police departments late Saturday, police said.

Patrick Strout, 30, of Fairlee, was driving a vehicle that had been pursued by police starting in Orford, N.H, according to Vermont State Police in Bradford, who were asked to assist three New Hampshire departments in the chase.

Several occupants of the vehicle fled on foot shortly after crossing into Vermont, police said.

Strout was arrested after a brief foot pursuit and was found to possess cocaine, police said. The truck he had been driving was reported stolen, police said.

Strout is expected to be arraigned in Orange County criminal court on Aug. 29.
