Dolores Loomis Rites

POULTNEY — A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, Aug. 18, for Dolores Durham Loomis, of Poultney, who died Aug. 15, 2012. She was born in East Poultney on Jan. 18, 1921.

Officiating were the Rev. Sean Dowling and Brother DePorres, Mrs. Loomis’ nephew and son of her brother, James Durham. Edward Durham, Mrs. Loomis’ brother, lead the Rosary for the family prior to the funeral Mass.

Burial followed at St. Raphael’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Michael Beninati, Nick Loomis, Mat Loomis, Nathan Loomis, Caleb Loomis, Jacob Loomis, Christian Loomis and Eric Marcy. Offertory gifts were presented by granddaughters Jennifer Beninati, Amanda Loomis, Katy Loomis and Brittany Marcy.

Organist was Kent Baker and St. Raphael’s choir sang. The eulogy was provided by granddaughters Amanda Loomis and Katy Loomis. Readings were provided by Robert Brough, Mrs. Loomis’ nephew.

A reception was held for friends and family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Poultney Rescue Squad or St. Raphael’s renovation fund.

Arrangements were under the direction of Durfee’s Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
