Cemetery cleanup
in Fair Haven
FAIR HAVEN — The town’s cemetery committee is looking for volunteers to help during two cleanup days at the West Street and Ceder Grove cemeteries.
The cleanup days are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 22 and Oct. 13.
Volunteer crews will help re-stack an old stone wall, straighten headstones that have fallen, clear flower beds and do some raking. People are asked to bring water, insect spray and any tools they have to help.
These historic cemeteries contain burials from the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. Town historian Dani Roberts will give a short talk before each cleanup.
Volunteers are asked to sign up by Sept. 11.
For more information or to sign up, contact Tim Pockette at 265-4952 or Charlotte Capron at 265-8641.
