    Police say fire

    set deliberately

MOUNT HOLLY — The owner of a house on Route 155 arrived home Friday night to find the dwelling both burglarized and damaged by an intentionally set fire, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers and firefighters were called to 5456 Route 155 at 6:19 p.m. Friday for a report of a fire that had gone out on its own inside the home.

The fire caused moderate damage to the interior before it went out, police said. Damage is estimated at $20,000.

Also at the scene, police found evidence that the home had been broken into and a number of items were reported stolen.

Investigators subsequently determined that the blaze had been deliberately set.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call either state police in Rutland at 773-9101 or the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 1-800-32 ARSON, which provides rewards up to $5,000 for the successful arrest and prosecution of arsonists.
