POULTNEY — John Kevin Davenport, 47, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at his residence following a long illness.
He was born June 5, 1965, in Roxbury, Conn., the son of George and Shirley (Cassidy) Davenport.
He grew up in Poultney, where he graduated from Poultney High School in 1984. While in high school, he was active in school sports, playing football, baseball and basketball. He later graduated from Wyoming Technical School.
He married Wendy Baldwin on Sept. 19, 1987.
He was employed by Eli’s Auto Body and York Coach Works, prior to establishing John’s Auto Body, which he operated for many years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and bowling.
Survivors include his wife Wendy Davenport, a daughter Katelyn Davenport, two sons, Justin Davenport and Brandon Davenport, two grandchildren, his parents, a sister Sandy Kelley, two brothers, Douglas Davenport and Michael Davenport, all of Poultney; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at American Legion Post #50 in Castleton.
Arrangements are by the Durfee Funeral Home.
