Vt. offers moose
permits to ill youth
WATERBURY — Vermont is offering free moose-hunting permits to as many as three young people who have a life-threatening disease or illness.
The deadline to apply to the state Fish and Wildlife Department is Sept. 13.
The applicants must be sponsored by a charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status.
There is no cost to apply, but winners must buy a Vermont hunting license for the Oct. 20-25 moose season.
The winners may designate up to five support people each to accompany them on the moose hunt. One of those people may carry a firearm and act as a second shooter as long as they have a hunting license.
