In the current poisonous national political climate which we seem to inhabit, Vermonters have a unique opportunity to vote for two candidates on the basis of exceptional competence and integrity rather than for political advantage: Beth Pearce for treasurer and Doug Hoffer for auditor.

These two offices, often used as stepping stones to higher office, are sometimes overlooked by voters but are of critical importance to the financial health of the state. Ms. Pearce and Mr. Hoffer both have long and exceptional records of service and accomplishment in their respective areas and stellar reputations for competence and personal integrity. Neither views these offices as avenues to personal political advancement.

They present a clear choice of professional competence or political consideration.

Please consider Beth Pearce, treasurer, and Doug Hoffer, auditor.

    BETTY CLARK
