This is an open letter to the people of Vermont. We are high school students in a Vermont public school. Our power and politics class called Rep. Peter Welch and asked him four simple questions. When we received these answers, we were left dumbfounded. The questions and answers are as follows:

Question 1: Why do you feel people view Congress in such a negative light?

Rep. Welch: Congress is too argumentative. Needs to solve problems.

Question 2: As a result of Congress’ low approval rating, what do you think your chances of re-election are?

Rep. Welch: My re-election is up to the people of Vermont. I am doing my best to be a positive influence.

Question 3: How do you see change in Congress taking place if the voters send the same Congress back to Washington?

    Rep. Peter Welch: It won’t.

Question 4: What is your view on term limits?

Rep. Welch: Won’t solve the problem.
