Top Vt. GOP candidates want wind moratorium
October 09,2012
BURLINGTON — The Republicans seeking Vermont’s two top state offices both support a moratorium on development of large-scale wind towers on Vermont mountaintops.
Mountaintop wind has emerged as an issue this election season.
Democratic Gov. Peter Shumlin said he opposes a moratorium on wind power development. The same is true of Cassandra Gekas, the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor.
Both Republican gubernatorial candidate Randy Brock and Lt. Gov. Phil Scott said it’s time to take a pause on wind power development and examine its impact on the state.
