Forum will look at barracks’ future
SHAFTSBURY — A public forum will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Arlington Fire Department to collect feedback and answer questions about the future of the Vermont State Police barracks in Shaftsbury which serves Bennington County.
As part of a legislative mandate, the Vermont State Police, in collaboration with the Vermont Department of Building and General Services, is conducting a comprehensive review of its facilities across Vermont.
Each study will independently outline the program needs in each county, the deficiencies of current facilities, potential sites for a new barracks and estimated costs. The overarching goal is to combine all the studies to make a prioritized long-term plan that determines the best way to support troopers in providing services to Vermonters.
