The City of Rutland is strongly urging residents to remove all political signs prior to Hurricane Sandy's arrival.

There is a clear potential for 50-70 mph winds as early as Monday afternoon and yard signs with wire supports will present a real danger to community safety as they become projectiles.

Party officials and candidates are being advised of this request and are very supportive. While this storm appears to be primarily a wind event, heavy rains still pose a local flooding hazard and we continue to ask the public to help keep storm drains free of debris.

Additionally, the Red Cross has identified Rutland Regional Medical Center's Leahy Center as the primary emergency shelter location if individuals become displaced and the need for a shelter arises.
