    WOODSTOCK — Phyllis J. Hickory, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Mertens House in Woodstock.

    She was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Chittenden, the daughter of John B. and Edith M. (Manning) Howard.

    In Bridgewater, she was a member of the Grange, Congregational Church, and an honorary grandmother for Grasshopper Preschool.

    She enjoyed cooking and was known for her Halloween popcorn balls and fudge.

    Survivors include five children, Darlene Griggs, Audrey Birney, Jerry, Robert and Jay Hickory; 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mae Bellimer, and three brothers, Leslie, Joseph and Stanley Howard; many nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Harold G. Hickory, in 1975 and four siblings, Alice Cram, Henry, Charles and Clarence Howard.

    Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.

    The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the funeral home.

    Burial will follow in Prosper Cemetery in Woodstock.
