SPRINGFIELD — Dorothy Gammon, age 65, died in her home on November 18, 2012, after a long illness.
She was born on February 15, 1947, the daughter of George and Emma (Fuller) Watkins.
She was a Head Start teacher for 20+ years. After that, she owned and operated Svea’s Tanning Salon in Springfield until her retirement. She devoted herself to everything she did and had a positive impact on everyone she met.
Her family includes two sons, David of Marlow, N.H., Robert of Springfield, Vt., and one daughter, Kathie of Bellows Falls, Vt. She is also survived by four brothers, Horace Watkins of Hartland, Vt., John Watkins and William Watkins of Springfield, Vt., and Ken Watkins of Brattleboro, Vt.; as well as eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, Ricky; six brothers, David, Roger, Art, John, Jesse, George; and one sister, Isabelle.
She loved camping, flowers, her animals, and most of all, her family.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Moose Hall in Bellows Falls, Vt., on Saturday, November 24, at 1 p.m.
