    No injuries in Brattleboro crashes

Troopers from the Brattleboro barracks of the Vermont State Police investigated a few crashes on Thursday but reported no serious injuries.

Senior Trooper Genevra Cushman said a crash on Route 9 near the intersection with MacArthur Road in Marlboro around 10:15 a.m. sent a man to the hospital.

Police said Patrick Perrotti, 68, of Wilmington, was traveling west on Route 9 when he lost control of his 1993 Toyota truck on black ice. Perrotti’s truck collided with the driver’s side of a 2007 Chevrolet HHR, driven by Thomas Albercio, 51, of Brattleboro, who was also traveling west on Route 9.

The Toyota truck then entered the oncoming lane where it collided with a 2012 Toyota Sienna, driven by Jeffrey Salmon, 45, of Rexford, N.Y., who was traveling east on Route 9.

The truck and the Sienna were towed from the scene but the HHR was able to be driven away.

Perrotti was taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital to be treated for a laceration of the ear, Cushman said.

The Marlboro Fire Department assisted at the scene.

In Brattleboro, a 3-year-old child was in a car with his parents when it crashed but none of the family members were injured. Trooper James Matthews said the crash took place around 2 p.m. on Exit 3 of Interstate 91.

According to Matthews, Christopher Bellemare, 34, of Naugatuck, Conn., lost control of the 2002 Ford Excursion he was driving while on the northbound off-ramp of the highway, resulting in a roll over crash.

Bellemare, his wife, Melissa and their 3-year-old son were not injured as they were all wearing seat belts, police said, but Bellemare was issued tickets for failure to maintain his vehicle in the lane of travel and driving with defective equipment.

The Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Squad also responded to the crash.
