Francis M. Tenney Rites
EAST ROXBURY — A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre for Francis N. Tenney of Tenney Road, who passed away Nov. 21, 2012, at the Rowan Court Health & Rehabilitation Center in Barre.
The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant. Crucifer Lawrence Reilly was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Organist and soloist Rosemary Badeau accompanied vocalists Ronald Routhier and Romeo Bilodeau in the hymns, “On Eagles Wings,” “The Lord Is My Shepherd,” “Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Song of Farewell,” and “Amazing Grace.” Soloist Rosemary Badeau sang “Ave Maria.”
Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by Mark Bates, son-in-law, and George Thayer, also a son-in-law, read Scriptures from the New Testament.
Words of remembrance were offered by Danielle Lannon, granddaughter.
Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Robert Godfrey, Joshua Tenney, and Ryan St. John, all grandchildren.
Assisting as Eucharistic minister was Gladys Prindiville.
Pallbearers were Danielle Lannon, Sara Godfrey, Craig St. John and Benjamin Tenney, all grandchildren.
A prayer service was held Monday afternoon at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre and was led by Father Bilodeau.
The fourth-degree Knights of Columbus members who provided honorary escorts at the funeral were Richard Deep, Dennis Jacques and Richard Luce.
Burial was in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, where the Rev. John Milanese offered committal prayers. Full military honors were accorded the deceased by the funeral detail of the Vermont National Guard of Colchester. Taps was sounded. The American flag was presented to Joan Tenney, wife of the deceased.
Following the burial a fellowship luncheon was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Godfrey in Brookfield.
Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
