    MANCHESTER — Jane Elizabeth Cruthers, 94, formerly of Landgrove, and more recently of Manchester, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at her residence at Equinox Terrace in Manchester following a brief illness

    She was born June 24, 1918, in Orange, N.J., the daughter of August Frederick and Edith (Vance) Bauer.

    She received her education in West Orange, N.J., and was a graduate of West Orange High School. She later graduated from Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing.

    On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Thomas Cruthers.

    For many years she was employed as a nurse at the Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, N.J., and later at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vt.

    She enjoyed golf, traveling, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, bridge and volunteering at Equinox Terrace, Manchester Health Services, and Hildene.

    Survivors include her children, Thomas Cruthers of Manchester, Andrew Frederick Cruthers of Milford, N.J., and Christina Jane McCaffery of Plymouth, Mich.; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, August Frederick Bauer, Jr.

    A memorial service will be announced at a later date
