I have an important message to those participating in the Gift-of-Life Marathon. Folks, before they prick your finger to check your iron levels, make sure your hands are warm. Last year I was about to be sent away because of low hemoglobin So I massaged my hands and shook them vigorously until they warmed up. The nurse checked again and my hemoglobin level had gone up over two points (a lot), just because I had warmed my hands.

Please remember this on Tuesday, and thank you for giving blood.
