The Rutland Herald’s decision to publish an editorial that sought to capitalize for political gain on the horrific events at Sandy Hook Elementary within hours of the tragedy was insensitive and inappropriate.
This was a horrific event that claimed the lives and innocence of children. One would think the Herald could give us a moment to mourn before attempting to use it as political capital. I can’t be the only reader that turned to the Herald for facts in a time of tragedy, to be upset by a politically motivated editorial that showed no regard for the victims.
This is a time for prayer, not politics. My thoughts and prayers go out to the students, teachers and families of the Newtown community.
I’m disgusted with this editorial decision and hope my hometown paper will show some discernment in the future.
