    George D. Brosseau Sr.

    (November 29, 1919 - January 1, 2013)

    BLISSVILLE, Vermont — Mr. George Brosseau Sr., 93, died on January 1, 2013, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt., surrounded by loving family, friends and caretakers.

    George was born on November 29, 1919, in Highgate, Vt., the son of Eugene and Cora (Piedalue/Praire) Brosseau.

    He was married to Lucienne H. (Demers) Brosseau, who died in 2008.

    A decorated soldier of WWII, George fought and was wounded during the Asiatic-Pacific War, earning two Bronze Stars, the American Theater Ribbon, and Purple Heart, and finishing as a Tec-5, U.S. Army Soldier.

    George was a 55-year member of American Legion Post 49, Fair Haven, Vermont.

    For over 40 years, George worked and raised his family with Lue in Blissville, Vermont, as a dairy/apple farmer and tenant farmer for his late friend, Robert Brown Sr.

    Surviving are his seven children, Gaylord, George Jr., Francis, Dianne, Jeanne, Michael, and Robert; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Ceciele, Leo, Alice and Irene.

    In addition to his wife, Lucienne, George was predeceased by two grandchildren, Curt and Tanya; and siblings Albert, Theresa, Laura, Paul, John, Lucille, Aimie, Phillip, Lorraine, and Blanche.

    Graveside services with full military honors will be held in the spring at Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, Vermont.

    George’s family would like to express appreciation to the Vermont Veterans Home for their excellent and compassionate care of their father during his six-year stay. Team B-Wing, “The cows have now gone home.”

    Arrangements are by the Durfee Funeral Home.
