Mary A. Breznick

POULTNEY — Mary Ann Breznick, 84, died Tuesday evening, January 8, 2013, at Indian River Nursing Home in Granville, N.Y.

She was born July 7, 1928, in Manhattan, N.Y., the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Melfi) Barbaro. Mary was a graduate of Fort Ann Central School class of 1946 as the salutatorian.

She married Edward John Breznick Sr. in Middle Granville, N.Y., on June 12, 1948.

Mary was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Catherine. She served her church as the collector for the community flower fund for deceased members.

She was employed by Esther’s Store on Main Street in Poultney for many years.

She is survived by her son, Edward J. Breznick Jr. and his wife Kathy of Poultney; by her daughter, Paula Jean Skelley and her husband Michael of Albany, N.Y.; by her four granddaughters, Jenn (Kathy) Skelley, Jill (Carrie) Skelley, Amie (Evan) Kirschenbaum and Kristi (Crystal) Breznick; by her brother, Anthony Ross of Glens Falls, N.Y.; by her great-grandson, Jett Kirschenbaum, and her great-granddaughter, Aria Kirschenbaum; also by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Edward John Breznick Sr., who died February 12, 2011; by her brothers, Louis and James Ross; and by her sister, Carmella Beayon.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, Poultney, with the Rev. Daniel Jordan as celebrant.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Ave., Poultney.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael’s Catholic Church at 21 East Main St., Poultney, VT 05764.
