    GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Roger Laverne “Dubber” Dennison died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at his home, with his family by his side, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

    He was born May 4, 1935, in Granville, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Emma (Matteson) Dennison.

    He retired from Norton Sealants in 1997, following 24 years of service.

    He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1954-1957, and stationed in Japan.

    He enjoyed going to Scottie’s for coffee. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and old westerns.

    He was a member of VFW Post 1653, American Legion Post 323, and the Modern Woodmen of America.

    In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his son Roger, brothers, Edwin, James, Timothy and Milford, sisters: Ethel, Brenda and Jo Carol.

    Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bertha (Lewis) Dennison; two daughters, Emma Rivers of Granville, and Shirley Slaughter of Lansing, Ill.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy McCullen of Granville and Helen Peters of Cambridge; and a brother, Joseph, of Granville; and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Roger; brothers Edwin, James, Timothy and Milford; and sisters Ethel, Brenda and Jo Carol.

    A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 8 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery and will be private and at the convenience of the family.
