    Elmer A. Moyer Jr.

    SUMTER, S.C. ó Elmer Arthur Moyer Jr., 70, of Sumter, S.C., died January 10, 2013, in South Carolina.

    He was born April 5, 1942, in Granville, N.Y., the son of Elmer Arthur Sr. and Jennie Lois (De Graff) Moyer.

    Mr. Moyer graduated from Middleton Springs (Vt.) High School class of 1961, University of Wisconsin, George Meany Labor CTR in Silver Springs, Md., and the University of South Carolina Sumter Campus.

    Mr. Moyer enlisted in the U.S. Army serving as a SFC Platoon Sergeant prior to his discharge. He served in the Vermont Army National Guard for 23 years.

    He was employed by the International Union of Electronic Workers as a international representative for 24 years, retiring in 1997, and was a substitute mail route carrier from Middletown Springs to Poultney, Vt., and life member of AFL-CIO since July 1, 1964.

    Mr. Moyer was a member of St. Annís in Sumter, S.C., American Legion Post 142 in Ashburnham, Mass., and the Knights of Columbus in Sumter, S.C.

    Survivors include a son, Brian D. Moyer of Clayton, N.C.; two daughters, Marci G. Pampuch and her husband David of Clayton, N.C., and Linette M. Gordon and her husband Norman of Fort Edward, N.Y.; a sister, Betty A. Buffum and her husband Charles of Castleton, Vt.; nieces Lesa Cathcart and her husband Philip of Fair Haven, Vt., and Vickie Hill and her husband Clayton of Rutland, Vt.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Anneís Church in Middletown Springs. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

    Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.
