PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Carmen S. “Noni” Paul, 91, of Sheffield Road, passed peacefully with family by her side early Friday morning, January 18, 2013.
Born in Proctor, Vt., July 14, 1921, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosolina Santoro, she was a 1939 graduate of Proctor High School, moving to the seacoast in 1957 from Rutland, Vt.
Carmen worked as a receptionist for the Portsmouth School District, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of The Sons of Italy, Senior Friends, Prime Time, as well as a communicant of St. James Church.
Carmen loved life. She enjoyed watching her backyard blossom every spring, of which she was her own creator, hosting Sunday dinner for her family and making pizza and chicken soup for her two granddaughters, Ashley and Morgan, whom she cherished. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles and game shows, which kept her sharp, bingo being one of her favorite pastimes.
She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her two sons, Peter J. Paul and wife Anita of Eliot, Maine, and Michael R. Paul of Portsmouth, N.H.; sister Yolanda Lavalley and husband Francis of Rutland, Vt; two granddaughters, Ashley and Morgan Paul of Eliot, Maine.
Carmen was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Angelos, who died in 1998.
Services: Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth, N.H. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel in Calvary Cemetery, Greenland Road, Route 33, Portsmouth, N.H.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
