    Do more than

    ‘drug sweeps’

I, for one, am sick of hearing about the “drug sweep” and how wonderful it was, etc., etc., etc.

If the authorities know about all these drug suspects and all the drugs out there that are hard core stuff, then why not do something about it and then try to prevent this drug abuse problem? The drug sweep is not treatment and police are not experts on drug addiction. If the drug problems are so bad in Vermont, then where is the drug abuse prevention and treatment? Do we just sit around and wait for a “drug sweep?”

Early childhood intervention is needed if the drug problem is that bad. Yes, and that means funding and spending time in the schools providing the treatment, not just conducting “drug sweeps.” By the time that happens, it’s too late. But, the authorities already know about all this and do nothing to prevent it.

Let’s just wait and see if anyone in mental health or anywhere else does anything to prevent this drug abuse problem. Don’t hold your breath.
