SHARON — The New England Environmental Education Alliance has awarded $5,000 to Sharon Academy for the school’s environmental literacy efforts.
NEEEA awarded the money to Vermont Statewide Environmental Education Programs (SWEEP), which distributes it to local programs.
Jim McCracken of SWEEP said Sharon Academy will use the grant for a semester-long “Biomimicry in the Upper Valley” high school science course.
Biomimicry emulates the systems, processes, and elements of nature for solving human problems, McCracken said. Sharon Academy will share the course with teachers at a half-dozen Upper Valley high schools.
Other grantees include Shelburne Farms and Rock Point School of Burlington.
