    TROY, N.Y. — Beryl Dunmore Pitkin, 93, died Jan. 30, 2013, at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, N.Y.

    She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Charles and Lena Dunmore.

    She was raised in South Royalton, Vt., and settled in Springfield, Vt., after marrying her husband, Frederick Pitkin. She was an active member of various church groups, and was also a foster mother.

    She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and reading.

    Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Pitkin Loucks of Vancouver, Canada; a son, Vance Pitkin of Chatham, N.Y.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Cleora Preston of Milton, Vt., and Eileen Heath of Concord, N.H.; a half-sister, Mildred Wood of Milton, Vt., and a half-brother, Ned Turner of Ione, Wash.

    She was predeceased by a son, Danny, and her husband, Fred.

    A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Springfield, Vt.
