POULTNEY — Edith Mae Ward, 89, a longtime resident of Poultney, died early Monday morning, February 4, 2013, in Fair Haven.
She was born on November 16, 1923, the daughter of Roy and Doris (King) Jones.
Mrs. Ward was employed doing private duty care for several years, then at Crandall’s Florist in Granville prior to becoming employed at the Poalino’s Florist where she was a longtime employee prior to her retirement.
She loved jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and her flower gardening.
Mrs. Ward was loved by all who knew her and was a loving wife for 55 years to her husband, John A. Ward.
Survivors include three sons, John Ward Jr., Jayson Ward Sr. and Darren Ward, all of Poultney; six grandchildren, John Ward III and Patrick Ward, both of Poultney, Brent Doran of West Haven, Brad Doran of Hydeville, Jayson Ward Jr. of Wells and Justin Ward of Arizona; five great-grandchildren, David, Zachary, Kyleigh, Katerianna and Shailynn; a brother, Clifford Jones of Poultney; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John, in 2001; a daughter, Sheryl Ward Doran, on June 19, 2012; and a brother, Gardner Jones.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Durfee Funeral Home.
Burial will be at a later date in the Poultney Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
