LOWELL — Vermont utility regulators have fined Green Mountain Power $30,000 stemming from five violations in its permit to ship turbine parts to an industrial wind-power project last year.

The utility had reached a settlement that included a $7,500 fine over the violations with the state Department of Public Service. Regulators on the Vermont Public Service Board accepted the settlement, but disagreed with the amount.

Board members said a higher penalty is warranted for violating the transportation plan, the Caledonian-Record reports.

The investigation into alleged violations began during Green Mountain Power’s shipments across Vermont of parts to the Lowell wind project.

The board said the utility acknowledges that the proceeding reiterated the importance of flawless compliance.
