    WALLINGFORD — James Clark Ingalls, 81, of Wallingford, died Friday evening, February 8, 2013, at The Pines at Rutland Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, following a brief illness.

    He was born on November 28, 1931, in Wallingford, the son of Montie and Emma (Brown) Ingalls.

    Mr. Ingalls graduated from the Wallingford High School in 1949. He attended the University of Vermont for two years prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954.

    He married Joyce A. Fish on June 11, 1955, in Wallingford.

    Mr. Ingalls established Ingalls Plumbing, Heating and Electrical in 1962, operated the company for his whole life only slowing down in his older years and became the oldest licensed plumber in the state of Vermont.

    He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, the American Legion Post #31, Wallingford Alumni Association and the Lake St. Catherine Country Club.

    Mr. Ingalls enjoyed playing golf, cross-country skiing, hunting and family gatherings.

    Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ingalls of Wallingford; a daughter, Karen Herrick of Florence; a son, James Ingalls of Wallingford; a sister, Beverly Mierke of California; two grandchildren, Valiere Herrick of Ira and Trevor Herrick of Clarendon; several nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by a sister, Ella Richard, and a brother, John Ingalls.

    Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. Burial with military honors will be at a later date.

    There will be no calling hours.

    Arrangements are by the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home.
